Potent Prayer

Daniel 6:10
Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went home. And in his upper room, with his windows open toward Jerusalem, he knelt down on his knees three times that day, and prayed and gave thanks before his God, as was his custom since early days. NKJV

We see a lot of talk about prayer. 

We may toss it out as a blessing to folks struggling or when a sudden need crops up. 

None of that is wrong, but an excellent question to ask ourselves is how we can have a potent prayer life—prayer where we experience authentic intimacy, where we genuinely hunger, thirst, and experience fellowship with the living God.

We can glean much from Daniel the prophet's prayer life. 

Daniel was consistent and faithful for more than 70 years of his prayer life. 

1 Peter 4:7
But the end of all things is at hand; therefore be serious and watchful in your prayers.
NKJV  

He prayed according to God's word, humbled himself on his knees, had a set appointment three times a day without distraction to pray, and thanked God for all He had blessed him with. 

He prayed not only because of any specific trial but because he had a real relationship with God as a priority.

Friend, we can get easily distracted from prioritizing our time with the Lord. 

Prayer becomes something we only do in a crisis, but to have a real relationship with God, we must give him the right place and time in our lives.

Life Lesson: Our prayer life shouldn't be relegated to just crisis control. It's meant to be consistent communion and connection with Christ.

Lord,
Please give me the grace to make and keep time set aside to worship and dialogue with You in prayer. 

Please forgive me when I push aside that time and don't take it seriously. 

Help me to hear from You according to Your word and allow You to speak into my life so that I might 

commune with You always.
