The Faith Slayer

The Faith Slayer

What is the biggest hindrance to faith and healing?  Without a doubt, it is fear.

While He was still speaking, someone came from the ruler of the synagogue’s house, saying to him, “Your daughter is dead. Do not trouble the Teacher.”  But when Jesus heard it, He answered him, saying, “Do not be afraid; only believe, and she will be made well.” (Luke 8:49-50)

Jesus made it clear to Jairus that his daughter’s healing depended on not fearing but believing.  Fear and faith can not walk hand in hand.

How often have we known the will of God, mentally believed the will of God, confessed the will of God, but haven’t seen the will of God manifest?  What is the problem?  Fear.

I’ve heard many Christians speak of dealing with fear in their sickness.  Fear of death, fear of doctors, fear of medicine, and fear of the financial issues.  Others are afraid of losing someone or losing their job.  Many know God’s will concerning healing, and they are “hopeful” that they might get healed, but deep down, there is fear that is slaying their faith.

. . . and release those who, through fear of death, were all their lifetime subject to bondage. (Heb. 2:15)

The root fear from which other fears grow is the fear of death.  When the fear of death is vanquished, the bondage of all other fears is destroyed.  You can be free to enjoy life.  You can live in peace, joy, and love.  Your faith will come alive.

Why would a Christian fear death?  Isn’t death simply a transition into the presence of God, the presence of Love Himself, where there is joy unspeakable and full of glory?  Those who fear death are choosing to live in the bondage of every other possible fear.  There is no abundant life in the atmosphere of fear.

There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.  (1 John 4:18)

Just as fear slays faith, love slays fear.  Perfect love casts out fear.  Fear is torment, but knowing the love of God is the most freeing power there is.  Do you truly know that God loves you?  The love of God will cast out fear.  If your faith isn’t “working”, fear is probably the problem.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for You are with me; (Ps. 23:4)

Dear Father in heaven

Thank you for another day. A day to worship you and bring you glory. May we do this every day and not just on weekends.

Thank you that you turn our sorrow to joy, our pain to comfort, and night to day. May our dark night turn to day in our situations and trials. May we see with knowledge, wisdom, and spiritual eyes and try and see things from your perspective and not our own.
Turn our tears to victories and accomplishments and be in agreement with your will for each one of us. May our desires be in line with yours and your will ours as well.
Help us in our walk and growth in Christ that we put on the mind of Christ daily and in renewing our minds through the day. I pray this in Jesus name. Amen.
