The Great Commandments of Love:
Matthew 22:36-40
Hello to all my brothers and sisters around the world! Hope all are doing well. Don't forget to pray for others around the world including the unsaved.
Jesus gave us 2 Great Commandments! Do you know what they are? Well let's turn together & read ( Matthew 22nd Chapter verses 36-40 ), which reads like this, ( 36 ) " Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the law?" ( 37 ) Jesus replied: " Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. ( 38 ) This is the first and greatest commandment. ( 39 ) And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' ( 40 ) All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments." But did you know Jesus didn't just make these up out of thin air. Jesus actually quoted 2 Old Testament scriptures when He made these commandments of love. That's right Jesus was quoting from the Torah when He said these, ( now watch this ) First ( Deuteronomy 6th Chapter verse 5 ), " And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength." Now here's the next one ( Leviticus 19th Chapter verse 18 ) " Thou shalt avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people, but thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself: I am the Lord."
Now you may ask, well where else does it say about loving each other? Well lets turn to the book of ( John 13th Chapter verses 34-35 ) which reads like this, ( also write this down and make notes ). ( Verse 34 ) " A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. ( 35 ) By this everyone will know you are my disciples, if you love one another." But I must ask you this, will you love others to the fullest extent possible? Will you do anything to help others ( that isn't sinful of course )? Even to the point of laying down your life for your friend if the situation calls for it? Turn with me if you will to ( John 15th Chapter verse 13 ) which reads like this, " Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends." And so I ask this, to show you also love the Lord to fullest extent, would you be willing to lay your life down for our Lord Jesus when the time and situation calls for it? Afterall our Good Shepherd our Lord Jesus Christ layed down His life to save us. After all Jesus laid down His life to saves us. Due to His Great love for us, and obedience to God the Father's will.
And if you have not accepted & trusted Jesus as your Lord & Personal Savior, if you have not answered the knock on your heart from Him, I urge you to do so today. Tomorrow is not promised to anyone. Submit yourself to Him, be baptized, and once the Holy Spirit comes upon you. You will be amazed at the changes and plans for your life that will come upon and you will see and learn just how good and loving God our Father really is by His very nature. And you will receive the peace of God, and the gift of eternal life once you accept it.
